Incredible team roster and art

[[VIDEOID:mo2NMESW6224RJU]]Marvel vs Capcom is one of the most epic crossovers ever. I like the idea of two universe of characters pitting against each other.

When I first saw the game at the arcade, I was amazed by the team roster, the number of characters you can choose from. It was crazy. It still is. All of them have epic special moves you'll never see in comics.

This is a 192-page artbook published by Udon. It's available in both paperback and hardcover. The hardcover edition is available only on Udon store, and it cost more than twice. The hardcover edition is limited to 500 copies and 200 were sold out on the first day at San Diego Comic Con 2012.

Udon has generously mailed me both the paperback and hardcover editions to review. The paper they use is quite thick. For the paperback edition, be careful not to open it too wide so as not to crack the spine. The hardcover comes with a dustjacket whose art is different from the paperback.

Unlike most other Udon artbooks, this is an original that's not translated from any Japanese edition.

There's a tribute gallery drawn by fans, splash pages, promotional art, character designs from all the different games, trailer screenshots, sketches, character profiles and ability card designs (not sure what are those).

The book is packed with great art. Almost all the splash pages are illustrations of characters battling out with one another. They are drawn by artists like Akiman, Joe Madureira, Kinu Nishimura, Shinkiro, Gouda Cheese (Bengus), Miho Mori and others.

The character art from each game differs in style and that's quite interesting to see and compare. The character profiles have short descriptions for each character and the games they appeared in. Wolverine actually appeared in all the games. Unfortunately, they didn't show many battle ground environment art.

Unless you're a serious collector, the paperback edition should suffice and is a good deal for the money.

It's a wonderful artbook for fans of the Marvel vs Capcom games, fighting games.

Very nice, thorough book!

Everything about this book was awesome for a MvC player like me to go through. The art was superb, and it was interesting to see what was going through the developer's minds as they came up with ideas for the games (I was surprised to see a Punisher game in there!) However, my only complaint was that movelists for all of the characters should have also been included in this book. I know it's an art book first and foremost, but it's the only thing keeping this otherwise great book from feeling complete.

Good art book bad spine!

When Udon puts together the format, the layout of their art books, graphic novels and such it's usually pretty good. I just wish they physically put it together well. This is the second book I have received from Udons line up with a spine that holds up as well as a wet noodle!

Inserts women rightfully back into the history of BMC alongside their male peers whose history has been fleshed out more in other publications. This catalog provides an interesting model for cross-disciplinary historical survey publications to come. Wonderful scholarship, a beautiful book, little seen works reproduced, accompanying one of the best shows of the year.

Great exhibit.
The catalog is excellent, well written, well designed and well researched. Buy it if you did not see the show ...or even if you did, as this exhibit is more about an important moment in 20th century art history and is not about an exhibit of major work, which for most of these artists was yet to come. It will cost a lot more when it is out of print.

About the Author

Lynn Meltzer, PhD, is Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Institute for Learning and Development (ILD) and ResearchILD in Lexington, Massachusetts. She holds appointments as an Associate in Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Tufts University Department of Child Development. Dr. Meltzer's clinical practice, research, publications, and presentations have focused on understanding the complexity of learning and attention problems using a multidimensional model to bridge the gap between theory, research, and practice. A fellow and past president of the International Academy for Research in Learning Disabilities, she is the founder and chair of the national Learning Differences Conference.

The importance of executive functioning and its relationship to education can no longer be ignored!

The author(s) are able to take the research in the field and present it in a fashion that can be immediately applied in the classroom. Meltzer bases this book on scientific studies which goes one step closer to the neuroeducation model which is bringing findings in the laboratory and classroom together. It is stated in the book that some of the information has been validated in controlled studies, some on research in classroom and have been used effectively in the educational therapy setting. Much of the information came from the Institute for Learning and Development (ILD) and ResearchILD which appears to combine the research/training model discussed by other authors.

Besides the excellent overview on understanding, assessing and teaching executive function processes, the constructs of goal setting, planning, prioritizing, organization, remembering, problem-solving and self-monitoring/self-checking form the chapters that comprise this book. There are suggestions on methods to teach EF separately or incorporating it in classes of math, reading, or writing. The reproducibles can be used in the classroom or with individual students. I found it easy to relate to this book because of the large number of references to experimental designs which lend credence to the efficacy of the recommended techniques.

While part of the title includes "What works for special-needs learners", all schools and educators need to become familiar with the concepts discussed on these pages.

Excellent book on EFD
By books are my life
Once again, I am pleased to purchase a book that is well-written, informative, and practical in knowledge and use. Executive Function Disorder (EFD) is the latest "hot topic" in special education. Anyone with adhd, autism, and processing issues, or if you still can't organize your utensil drawer, you've got EFD. Suffice it to say, my utensil drawer looks like a dungeon for utensils gone bad. As the parent of a daughter on the autsim spectrum, a 17 year old son (need I say more), and a special educator, I found this book particulary helpful in both understanding EFD better, and putting into action many of the excellent ideas. There are charts, explanations and anecdotal material to help you visualize and implement organizational strategies and work on emotional regulation (wouldn't that we all could get a handle on that). I highly recommend this book for teachers, parents and anyone who needs to understand why a sock in front of the hamper instead of in the hamper makes one explode like an overstuffed sausage.

Good book for all educators

This book is really good to have as a tool in your classroom. It gives some great suggestions on how to strenghten students executive functioning skills. Even students who have not been identified for special education might have some executive functioning problems which will affect their learning in many ways. This book will help guide you through making simple adaptations and modifications to give every student an opportunity to do their best.

Excellent book for the piano repertoire!

Master piece music book! The arrangements were made by Joe Hisaishi himself.
If you really want to perform this songs as they were written, you will have to study them as
seriously as if you were studying Bach, Mozart, Beethoven or any other serious composer.
The quality of the paper is great, although, the book is paperback.

Best Ghibli Piano Book

This book contains, by far, my favorite arrangements of pieces from Studio Ghibli films. The arrangements, written by Joe Hisaishi himeself, are rich and well written for the piano. The scores are beautiful and the binding is very nice. Many of the most popular pieces are included. If you're looking for Ghibli piano arrangements, this is the book.

A lean overview of lean manufacturing

This is a great, SHORT overview and study guide for lean manufacturing. Kind of pricey for the length but why have 500 repetitive examples. Isn't that the antithesis of LEAN? I have read many 300 and 500 page books on lean, 5s and six sigma. Always after the first 100 pages, I ask myself why more? This keeps it short. Good job.
